D Saturday V OCG
It was a lovely day at Como albeit a little brisk in the shade.
The team had gone through somewhat of a transformation with 8 changes to the previous week with some returning favourites.
With Daisy out injured (groin) Noel took the reins again. We have a bit of a tag team captaincy going on here.
We lost the toss for the 4th week in a row and OCG put us in to bat.
With the opening partnership or Bails and Ben Mclean not in effect this week Sumo got a call up to open the batting.
Bails didn't last long, getting judged LBW with the first pill of the day.
Bambi got himself a promotion in the order and found himself out there after just one ball looking to consolidate but also push on the rate. Bambi dug up a huge chunk of the pitch and was given caught behind with the score on just 4 after 9 overs.
This bought doc to the crease with Sumo and the stalwarts put on 56. Just as Doc was getting to free his arms and hit the boundary he was beaten by the leggy and stumped on a top score of 30.
This saw another promotion in the line up given to the scorers with Smokey being promoted to push on the run rate. after finding some gaps an getting a couple of singles Smokey(2) and Sumo (23) were both out with the score on 63.
This bought Tim and Noel to the crease. Noel new he had to go and hit 3 boundaries in quick time before playing around a straight one and being bowled with the score on 75.
This saw Fahad come to the crease and the two left handers did really well getting the second highest partnership for the day with 35 runs before Rim coped really well with a less than ideal LBW decision, he finished with a very solid 16.
with time running out Fahad(22) tried to push the pace and was ultimately caught going for runs.
Bobby Fisher and Phil scored 3 between them and were left unbeaten at the end of the innings with the score reaching 122 at the completion of overs.
Bobby Fisher and Fahad opened the bowling and bobby being bobby, kept it tight before going for 13 in his 6th over.
(6 overs 0 for 23)
Fahad was good off his 5 overs beating the bat and causing some trouble for the batters before doing himself a mischief and having to stop bowling (5 overs 0 for 17)
Lachlan Hughes replaced bobby fisher with immediate effect taking a wicket in his first over. He bowled out his 9 overs straight and took another wicket in his last over to end with man of the match figures 9 overs 2 for 19. Well played mate.
Simon bambi Bambridge replaced the injured Fahad and took an important wicket in his first over. It was the OCG A reserve opener, who due to availability went down to their twos and was lucky enough to play with some greats of e game in D Saturday. He was caught comfortably by sumo at square leg.
Smokey came on and kept things tight finishing with 6 overs 0 for 15.
Phil Tepper showed some keen fielding and bowled 4 overs for figures of 1 for 35.
All in all there are some things we need to work on (like not injuring ourselves every week)
But the boys played in great spirit and backed each other all the way.
Huge congratulations to Lockie Hughes for his BOG performance.
We will come back next week ready to give it a red hot go at home before the trivia night.
Also, if you are not on a table for trivia but want to come. Let Gid know and he will set you up on someone's table.
